What Fishing Equipment do I need?

To make the most of your fishing adventure at Kielder Waterside with friends of family, we highly recommend taking these items with you:

  • Fishing rod and reel – choosing the right rod is dependent upon the type of fishing you are looking to complete.
  • Fishing line – top tip you should never have less than 100 yards of line on your reel.
  • Hooks – having a variety is recommended allowing you to catch a range of different fish of different sizes
  • Bait – this is what you attach to the end of your line,to lure fish in.
  • Lures – otherwise known as artificial bait
  • Bobbers – these help to keep your bait near the surface and let you know when your bait has been taken
  • Sinkers – these help to stabilise your line as your bait and hook sinks deeper.
  • Needle nose pliers & line cutters – to help you when unhooking your catch and setting up a new line.
